Fall/Winter Outdoor Exercise
As temps drop, you may need to gear up for the colder months while getting your sweat on. Here are the items I've already invested in, or will be soon.
1. I know there's science behind the winter sun's glare I don't really understand, but I do understand the headaches I get without protection from it. Goodr sunglasses get rave reviews, and with most at under $30 a pop, a great investment. Voted the best performance sunglasses by athletes, these are renowned for no bouncing, no slipping and polarized lenses. They come in fun and funky designs and colors. Bonus: They are carbon-neutral.
2. Base layers keep you warm while wicking away sweat when you're active outdoors. Check out this list from Runners World for best selections.
3. Currently in my Amazon cart:
$30 (down from $55) Columbia Trek Terry Half-Zip cut with an easy, regular fit for comfort and range of motion. It's also available in extended sizes.
Under Armour Long-Sleeve Crew wicks sweat and dries quickly. The mesh underarm panels provide added ventilation while the 100% knit fabric keeps you warm and comfortable.
3. Keep your head warm with this sport beanie from Smartwool. It helps regulate your temperature and is odor-resistant. Machine washable and flat drying, it's easy to care for.
4. Freezing fingers begone! I really like these highly rated Inverno Gloves from Tracksmith. From the website: "Our Inverno Blend from Italy is specially knit with a smooth yet durable face that fends off light precipitation, and a soft brushed back that provides warmth while pulling moisture away from the skin. This micro-nylon and elastane blend also dries quick. . ." Get 'em here.
5. Bonus: Though I didn't buy this unisex, OSFA, multifunctional headband from Buff, I'm keeping it on my radar. Said to be worn 12 different ways, from a cap to a balaclava to a hair tie, this do-everything headwear has UPF 50 sun protection and 100% recycled microfiber.
Happy sweating!
